French toast is referred to by the French as “pain perdu” (lost bread) because of the national preference for using stale bread, which is believed to not absorb so much egg. This gastronomic treasure can be found in cookbooks dating back Medieval times though, so no one is certain of its exact provenance. Even the Romans had there own version referred to as Pan Dulcis.

Whatever you choose to call it, French toast is breakfast food that has stood the test of time. Our cinnamon french toast uses wholewheat bread, and raw cane sugar to make it wholesome and sweet all at once.
