Time: 10 mins
Age: Little kids
Difficulty: Easy peasy
You will need:
- Plastic bottle
- Sharp knife
Step 1: Cover the bottle with card
Roll a piece of card around your bottle and secure in place with tape or glue.
Step 2: Cut a slit for the coins
Carefully cut a slit in the top of the bottle for the coins to go through.
A sharp knife works best but make sure an adult does this bit to avoid any accidents.
Step 3: Draw out the propeller
Remove the bottle top and place it on a piece of card.
Draw around it and then draw a wider circle round this one and draw shapes for the propellers.
Carefully cut out the smaller circle to leave a hole (as in photo).
Step 4: Cut shapes for the wings and tail
Cut shapes from card for the plane’s wings and tail.
Step 5: Make some windows for your plane
Draw around the bottle top to make lots of circles for the windows of your plane.
We cut out 8 circles for our plane, using shiny silver card.
Step 6: Put the propeller in place
Remove the bottle top and place the propellor around the neck of the bottle.
Screw the bottle top back on to keep it in place.
Kids can have fun spinning it round.
Step 7: Glue on the wings and tail
Make a small fold at the end of each wing.
Spread glue along this folded edge and stick it to the side of your bottle.
Repeat for the other wing. And then glue on the tail in the same way.
Step 8: Add the windows and your plane is all ready to take off
Glue on the windows and your jet is all ready for its maiden flight.
Up, up and away!
